Milan Futuro were held to their second draw of the season on Wednesday evening, failing to break down a resolute Casatese Merate.
The Futuro bounced back from a frustrating draw in midweek – a game in which they were 2-0 up but failed to see it out – with an impressive comeback against Chievo Verona on Sunday afternoon. There were three different goal scorers, helping the Rossoneri come back from 0-2 behind to win 3-2.
Massimo Oddo highlighted after the game that he thought his side ‘dominated from start to finish’, and the stats show it. It put his side on seven points from three games, so right up there among the early pace setters.
However, Casatese Merate were a different proposition. The home side had the better of the first half with Milani coming close from a corner and Carannante firing over from the edge of the box. Pittarella also made a brilliant stop to thwart Pozzoli.
Oddo’s men never really got going in truth and in the second half it was Caratese who again came closest to taking the lead. Geddo failed to convert from deep inside the box, and Isella whizzed one just wide of the post.
Right at the end, Milan had a big chance to grab a win that perhaps would have been in the ‘smash and grab’ territory. Asanji was found in space inside the box, but he blazed over the crossbar with the net practically wide open. In the end, the spoils were shared.
