Celtic have approached the Scottish Professional Football League to question whether the correct process was followed over the postponement of their game at Aberdeen.
The Scottish Premiership game was called off at 16:20 GMT on Wednesday - less than four hours before kick-off.
Aberdeen contacted the SPFL at about 13:30 to request a pitch inspection amid concern over a waterlogged goalmouth at the Merkland Stand end of Pittodrie.
The match was called off shortly after a 16:00 inspection over concerns players could lose their footing in the penalty box and the ball would not bounce properly.
"It is extremely regrettable that the match against Aberdeen was postponed, particularly at such a late stage," said a Celtic statement.
"While we understand the decision, clearly we sympathise with our supporters, many of whom had begun making their journeys or had arrived in Aberdeen already.
"We have raised the matter with the SPFL, to understand whether the SPFL pitch inspection protocol was followed correctly.
"In our view, there must be the ability to make earlier decisions on matches. We are very sorry that our fans have been inconvenienced in this way."
The postponement followed heavy rainfall after a period of heavy snow in the area, and persistent showers are expected until Saturday's Scottish Cup tie against Motherwell at Pittodrie.
Motherwell's Premiership game against Dundee was also postponed on Wednesday.
