CF: Nothing since 2019 – Council could only consider Milan and Inter’s joint-offer

After an agreement last week, AC Milan and Inter will purchase San Siro and the land surrounding it. The only option for the City Council.

In the past few years, a lot has been said about San Siro, its future and the future of clubs. Of course, there is now some clarity, but it has not been an easy process, far from it.

Clubs or nothing

The council threatened that the clubs would have to find a new home if a solution was not found, with different ideas coming forward about the stadium and its future. However, it seems that nothing actually ever did arise.

In the documents about the sale, Calcio e Finanza found some details about the offers, or lack thereof, regarding the stadium, and Calciomercato.com have relayed their findings.

“By the deadline set in the notice of April 30, 2025, no representations or proposals were received, as evidenced by resolution no. 3526 of May 7, 2025,” which means there were no alternatives to the clubs’ proposal.

“It should be noted in this regard that, even in the previous period, given the inclusion of the Meazza stadium in the Real Estate Disposal and Development Plan attached to the aforementioned City Council Resolution no. 9 of March 28, 2019, no expressions of interest in the acquisition and management of the facility were received by the Administration, with the exception of those submitted by the user companies.”

It is worth noting that the Mayor did meet with some event and concert organisation parties in November 2022. However, this interest was subject to the teams leaving the stadium, so nothing went ahead.
