After the sale of AC Milan and Inter was approved by the City Council, appeals have begun to flow in from various groups.
In case you missed it, the council have given the green light to sell the existing stadium and surrounding area to the two clubs after a decisive vote in the City Hall last month. A long road still awaits but it is a crucial step towards building a new home and partly demolishing San Siro.
Inevitable appeals follow
As Calcio e Finanza report, the Lombardy Regional Administrative Court (TAR) has rejected the request to urgently suspend the effects of the Milan City Council’s resolution regarding the sale of the San Siro to the two teams.
The request was submitted by the Gruppo Verde San Siro Association and over one hundred residents of the neighbourhood, who submitted additional grounds to the appeal they had already filed to prevent the demolition of the Meazza.
The court has however set a hearing for November 11, allowing the clubs to proceed with the deed before the restriction on the second tier comes into effect, which is on November 10.

The reasoning is as follows: “Contrary to what is alleged in the request for urgent precautionary measures by a single judge contained in the additional grounds, there is no likelihood of harm of such extreme gravity and urgency that it is not possible to await the examination of the precautionary measure by a panel of judges.
“Given the imminent effectiveness of the council resolution challenged with the additional grounds and the possible signing of the sales contract, no current harm can be established with respect to the specific interests of the appellants, who claim to suffer damages from the urban development and building transformations and from the start of works that cannot be carried out immediately.”
In essence, a case will be brought forward to block the sale, but it will not do so before the resolution for the sale of the stadium takes place (before November 10) so that the second tier restriction does not kick in, which would potentially terminate the entire project.
