Chelsea are on the search for a new permanent manager following the sacking of Liam Rosenior, with Calum McFarlane taking interim charge until the end of the season.

Chelsea players would reportedly be excited to work with club legend John Terry amid the club's coaching changes. The former defender currently works part-time with the club's youth sides.

The Blues are on the lookout for a new head coach following the sacking of Liam Rosenior on Wednesday, just three months after his appointment. Academy coach Calum McFarlane will take interim charge until the end of the season, having overseen the team in between the departure of Enzo Maresca and the appointment of Rosenior.

The Daily Mail claims that the coach is respected by the Chelsea squad, with the report suggesting that they would also be keen to work with Terry.

The former England captain has experience as an assistant manager with both Aston Villa and Leicester City and has previously made no secret of his desire to one day step into management.

"I absolutely wanted it,” he said.

“When I went into Villa I got great experience under Dean Smith and we got promotion, which was incredible."

He added: "As an assistant coach in the Premier League and the experience I've had as a player and an individual captain in both Chelsea and England, I thought that would be enough to get me a job. I'm not saying a job in the Premier League or the Championship - but a job at League One level."

It’s said that Terry would be keen to work with the Chelsea squad, but the 45-year-old has confirmed that he has not been contacted by the club.

"I am not sure what Calum’s backroom staff is going to look like, I have not had a call, I have not had a message,” he said on his TikTok account.

"I will be continuing my role in the academy, I will be in the academy tomorrow, a big couple of games coming up.

"We will all get behind Calum, he did a great job away against Man City previously and we will get behind the boys because that is what we do."

McFarlane’s first game back in interim charge comes at Wembley Stadium as the Blues face Leeds United in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday afternoon (3pm kick-off). They then return to Premier League action just over a week later when they host Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge.
