Chelsea have been told they should sign Victor Osimhen if they want to reach the top.

football.london understands the Blues were keen to sign the Nigerian forward at one point, although extortionate salary demands made the move unlikely. Chelsea instead opted to sign Liam Delap and Joao Pedro in the summer, while Osimhen ended up completing a permanent move to Galatasaray.

The striker spent the previous season on loan in Istanbul and his performances persuaded club chiefs to spend big on the 26-year-old. Osimhen certainly knows how to find the net and has scored 12 goals in 16 appearances so far this campaign.

With the likes of Pedro, Delap, Marc Guiu and Nicolas Jackson (currently on loan at Bayern Munich) on the club's books, it's unclear if Chelsea would ever move for Osimhen in the future. The west Londoners have shown in the past, though, they are ready to act if the right opportunity presents itself.

William Gallas believes signing Osimhen would help take his former side to the next level. Speaking to OLBG, Gallas said: "I think they are missing some experienced players because when we look at the game against Arsenal, they drew that game. Unfortunately, (Moises) Caicedo got a red card.

"When we see the image of the challenge, he made a big mistake. Chelsea with 11 players, I'm sure they would have won that game. That's why I say they are missing experienced players, a little bit.

"To be honest, a player who can put Chelsea really on top for me is Victor Osimhen. I wanted to see him sign for Chelsea.

"Unfortunately, it didn't happen. But yeah, my dream is to see him play for Chelsea because with his quality, I think he can adapt to Chelsea perfectly."

Pedro, Delap, Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato, Facundo Buonanotte, Alejandro Garnacho, Mike Penders, Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr and Willian Estevao all arrived in the summer. Chelsea spent close to £300million on new talent and have one of the youngest squads in the Premier League - how Osimhen potentially fits into that remains to be seen.
