Chelsea line-ups for Brentford as Cole Palmer and Reece James disagreement revealed

Chelsea welcome the high-flying Brentford to Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon in Liam Rosenior's first taste of Premier League football as Blues head coach

It wasn't exactly the dream debut at Stamford Bridge for newly-appointed Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior on Wednesday night. It was always going to be difficult for Rosenior to get off to the perfect start at the home of the Blues against such a strong Arsenal side.

The Gunners go into next month's Carabao Cup semi-final second leg with a 3-2 advantage after Wednesday evening's thriller in west London. Rosenior will be hoping his second match at Stamford Bridge will be slightly less thrilling in terms of end-to-end football, though the new head coach will want his side to put on a show in front of their own supporters.

In doing that, the line-up is key. And, with that being said, football.london writers Bobby Vincent and Sam Truelove have picked the XIs they would choose for Saturday afternoon's match.

Bobby Vincent

Robert Sanchez had a bit of a howler against Arsenal but the Spaniard should keep his place in goal for the Blues. Rosenior backed the goalkeeper after the game and there is no indication that he will drop Sanchez out of the XI in place of Filip Jorgensen.

The fitness of Malo Gusto remains uncertain, while Reece James is set to return to the Chelsea squad. Though, with just two training sessions under the captain's belt, he might not make the starting line-up.

There could be scope for Moises Caicedo to start at right-back and invert into the midfield, something we saw plenty of times under Rosenior's predecessor Enzo Maresca. Josh Acheampong could move into the centre of defence with Wesley Fofana potentially needing a rest, with Trevoh Chalobah and Marc Cucurella making up the Blues' back four.

Andrey Santos and Enzo Fernandez in the midfield, with Pedro Neto on the right-hand side of Chelsea's attacking line. Cole Palmer, like James, will only have had two sessions working with the rest of the squad by the time Brentford come to town, so he could be used from the bench.

In the No.10 role, perhaps there will be a chance for Estevao Willian. It is not a position we have seen him in too much but one where he can play. Alejandro Garnacho deserves a start after his excellent contribution against Arsenal, while Joao Pedro could lead the line with the condition of Liam Delap up in the air.

Bobby's XI: Sanchez; Caicedo, Acheampong, Chalobah, Cucurella; Santos, Fernandez; Neto, Estevao, Garnacho; Joao Pedro

Sam Truelove

Rosenior will be hoping a handful of players return to the Chelsea squad for the visit of Brentford on Saturday. A lot will depend on the virus sweeping through the west London club, though, although steps are being taken to minimalise the impact.

Sanchez should start in goal, despite his shaky performance against Arsenal, with James hopefully coming in at right-back should the Blues captain be fit enough. Apart from that, I would keep the defence the same with Fofana, Chalobah and Cucurella all starting.

I quite liked the midfield two on Wednesday but Caicedo has to play, most probably instead of Santos. The Ecuadorian should partner Fernandez, who had a very good game against the Gunners.

Hopefully Palmer is fit and if so I would start him in the No.10 role, with Neto on the right and Garnacho on the left following his brace. Again, a lot depends on the virus sweeping through the camp, but if Delap is well enough he should get the nod against the Bees.

Sam's XI: Sanchez; James, Fofana, Chalobah, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Neto, Palmer, Garnacho; Delap
