The predicted Chelsea line-up for this evening's FA Cup third round tie with Charlton Athletic as Liam Rosenior prepares for his first match in charge of the Blues
Liam Rosenior will take charge of his first match as Chelsea head coach this evening as the Blues make the short trip to The Valley to take on Charlton Athletic.
The FA Cup is back with the west Londoners heading south of the river to face the Addicks. The third round of football's oldest competition always brings excitement but for Chelsea supporters, there is even more anticipation because Rosenior is making his debut in the dugout for the Blues tonight.
Rosenior has only taken two training sessions with the squad he inherited but he is now tasked with choosing an XI to get the job done in Charlton. So, with this being said, football.london takes a look at what the newly-appointed head coach might do for this evening's cup tie:
Filip Jorgensen
Jorgensen has so often been the cup goalkeeper and we await to see if that changes under Rosenior. Robert Sanchez returned to the side for the defeat to Fulham on Wednesday after suffering a knock, but the Spaniard could sit out of this one.
Josh Acheampong
Malo Gusto may get a rest for the trip to southeast London. Acheampong has been mightily impressive in recent appearances when he has been used as a right-back and Rosenior might use the 19-year-old there this evening.
Wesley Fofana
Fofana was in the squad for the Fulham loss but was not used from the bench. The Frenchman could return to the XI tonight in place of Tosin Adarabioyo.
Benoit Badiashile
Badiashile could come in and hand a rest to Trevoh Chalobah, who has played so much football already this season. The Frenchman will be keen to make a good first impression to his new gaffer as he looks to establish himself as one of Chelsea's go-to central defenders.
Jorrel Hato
Marc Cucurella will serve a one-match suspension tonight following his sending off at Fulham. Hato came on in the first-half at Craven Cottage after the red card and impressed. The Dutchman will be hoping for more minutes under the new head coach.
Reece James
Chelsea's midfield situation is not ideal. Romeo Lavia remains out, while Dario Essugo is closing in on a return. It is hard to imagine a world where either Enzo Fernandez or Moises Caicedo start, meaning James could be used in the middle.
Andrey Santos
Surely a start for Santos. The Brazil international, who worked with Rosenior last season while on loan at Strasbourg, was sacrificed in the first-half a few days ago as Calum McFarlane changed the shape slightly to adjust to Cucurella's red card.
Estevao Willian
Estevao didn't even get on at Fulham. The 18-year-old will be eager to start tonight's match and continue his fine form in his debut season at Stamford Bridge.
Facundo Buonanotte
Buonanotte has played less than 500 minutes in all competitions for the Blues since arriving on loan in the summer. The Argentine has made just six starts for the first team and will be desperate for a seventh this evening.
Jamie Gittens
Gittens, too, will be hoping for more minutes under the new boss. The 21-year-old, who arrived in the summer transfer window for £51.5million, has shown glimpses of his talent but still has a lot to prove in west London.
Marc Guiu
Guiu has made nine appearances since being recalled from his loan at Sunderland back in September. Only three of those have been from the start. Rosenior might be looking to rest Liam Delap and Joao Pedro ahead of next week's Carabao Cup semi-final showdown with Arsenal.
Predicted Chelsea XI: Jorgensen; Acheampong, Fofana, Badiashile, Hato; Santos, James; Estevao, Buonanotte, Gittens; Guiu
