Talisman Palmer and club captain James were absentees from both matches as caution was taken in resting the pair owing to their history of fitness problems, especially with fixtures coming thick and fast on four fronts.

Up next, Chelsea return to Premier League action when they face Brentford and ahead of training on Thursday, Rosenior had a positive update to provide on his two key players.
"They're both training today. Hopefully they'll be in the squad on Saturday," he said.
That training session took place on Thursday afternoon ahead of a match that could see Chelsea leapfrog Keith Andrews' side in the race for European qualification.
