According to Calciomercato.com, the moment is getting closer and closer when Modric will make a decision about what to do next year. The choices are quite simple: either he extends his contract for a second season with, leaves and joins another club, or retires.

From the very first days of the summer preseason, a full understanding developed between Modric and Allegri. The Croatian champion recognised not only the Rossoneri coach’s professional value but also his human value, and discussions about his management are practically daily.

Allegri would never try do without Modric, even at the cost of using Ardon Jashari less, despite the big investment in his. The coach is making sure to convey his complete trust in the Croatian, knowing that it will be his decision.

The Ballon d’Or winner’s season has been overwhelmingly positive so far. Deployed as a deeper-lying midfielder by Allegri, he immediately took control of the team and has already made 25 appearances in all competitions, also scoring one goal and providing three assists in the league.

Everyone at Milan is very satisfied and they have no doubts about wanting to keep him for next season, knowing they have to wait for a signal from Luka himself. The contract signed last summer included an option for the club to extend his contract for another year, but Modric will make the call.

The choice will be made based on the team’s position at the end of the season, but also on his family’s opinion and how the World Cup goes. However, the real determining factor will be his physical condition: Modric wants to see how he feels at the end of the season.

He enthusiastically accepted Milan’s offer last summer, both because it represented the completion of a circle and because he approaches this sport and this profession with the desire to improve day after day. We will see if the fairytale continues.
