CM: Back with Abate, back to scoring – Zeroli hoping for spark with Milan ambition still there

Kevin Zeroli was one of the most talked about talents in AC Milan’s youth sector, yet the past couple of years have been strange.

As Calciomercato.com write, the hope is that Zeroli’s rebirth came in the 50th minute of the match against Padova last night. He scored his first goal for Juve Stabia, as well as his first professional goal in the second division, having been sent on loan there in the winter window.

The path to now

Zeroli is part of a group who have come through the Milan Primavera and who, in their own time, are establishing themselves in the Italian football scene. He is alongside the likes of Francesco Camarda, Christian Comotto and Davide Bartesaghi, the latter of whom is a starter for the first team.

All played in a team that were captained by Zeroli himself for large stretches. Thanks to his leadership but also his penalties, Zeroli and co. reached the UEFA Youth League final, which they then unfortunately lost to Olympiacos.

Zeroli had a handful of appearances for the Milan first team but was then sent out on loan to Monza for their relegation season, and then again for their first campaign back in Serie B. Yet, his second spell was terminated early due to a lack of minutes.

The choice was to go to Juve Stabia and reunite with his mentor Ignazio Abate. While he hasn’t been there long, the minutes per game are increasing and the goal scored over the weekend could be the spark for a resurgence.

The goal, in fact, remains a permanent return to Massimiliano Allegri and the first team, aiming to follow in the footsteps of Bartesaghi. Zeroli would suit Allegri’s style and philosophy, but for now Juve Stabia is the focus, with an eye to potentially the summer preseason retreat as a chance to impress.
