CM: Expiring deal and no renewal in sight – Kirovski expected to leave Milan

Jovan Kirovski’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and barring any surprises it will not be extended.

Back in July 2024, Kirovski was appointed by Milan as the sporting director of the Futuro project. The decision to include the American executive in the Rossoneri management team was made by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who had worked with him during his time in the United States.

Kirovski was the technical director of the Los Angeles Galaxy from 2013 to 2024. The agreement was for two years, which is why the brief and certainly unsuccessful stint is expected to end in July, as per Calciomercato.com.

Heading for the door

Kirovski went from being an ever-present at games and Ibrahimovic’s right-hand man to a more marginal, certainly less media-focused role. The former LA Galaxy man has one foot out of the door: his contract expires in July, and negotiations for a renewal have never even begun.

The matter is now completely stalled, and it remains to be seen whether Ibrahimovic will decide to personally commit to giving him a second chance. Sporting results certainly don’t help Kirovski, with the huge blemish of the Futuro’s relegation to Serie D, after an investment of over €10m.

Last January, he was responsible for two signings that went against the grain a bit in Andrea Magrassi and Simone Branca,. Both earn very high salaries for the level, and both remained on the payroll even in Serie D without making a difference.

The delay in dismissing Daniele Bonera is also to blame: Massimo Oddo arrived when the season was already in dire straits. The list of reasons to keep him, therefore, is a small one.
