This season, two players were probably not expected to be present for AC Milan: Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori. Nevertheless, they are.
During the latter parts of last season, there were several suggestions that Milan could part with Tomori and Loftus-Cheek, with English interest present for both players. Though it never went past interest.
In fact, the duo were two of the quietest players during the summer, at least where rumours are concerned. However, Massimiliano Allegri has always had an eye on them. In defence, Tomori can be an Andrea Barzagli-like player.
Whilst Loftus-Cheek’s attacking abilities have already been seen through pre-season and in Serie A. Now, the question is, will they stay, rather than will they go?
Similar situations
As Calciomercato.com writes, both are being assessed by the Rossoneri, which had previously been stated by Gazzetta dello Sport. However, their situations differ slightly.
With the midfielder, he has already gotten to grips with Allegri’s style, and he could well extend his deal past its current 2027 expiration. Though this would only be possible at the end of the season. Igli Tare, alongside the coach, has faith in him, but the main issue regards his fitness.

For Tomori, it is a case of conviction. He has personal ambitions to remain with the club, lift the Scudetto again and earn the second star. So far, he has gained Alegri’s trust, and he wants to repay it.
With this, he hopes that conviction will be felt inside the Diavolo, and then a renewal can be discussed. Again, things will only be discussed in the second half of this season, though, barring any shocks.
