CM: First-team plans to consecutive exclusions – Milan watching Max Ibrahimovic closely at Ajax

AC Milan are keeping an eye on Maximilian Ibrahimovic’s time at Ajax, given that some money rests on the option to buy.

As Calciomercato.com recall, Ibrahimovic introduced himself as a new Ajax player on January 14, stating: “I’m an independent player, and I want to write my own story. I feel good. I’m excited. I think my father is happy for me, but Ibrahimovic is just a last name, I’m Maximilian.”

Interestingly, it will be the first time Maximiliano won’t play at a club where his father is. At Hammarby, Zlatan was part-owner, while at Milan he remains a highly regarded executive. This time, Maxi will be just like the others in every way.

Why Ajax?

Zlatan, in collaboration with Enzo Raiola’s agency, agreed a deal that is beneficial both for his son and for Milan itself. Maximilian has joined Ajax on loan with an option to buy for €3.5m plus a percentage of any future sale. For Ajax, the negotiations were conducted by Marijn Beuker and Alex Kroes.

Since his arrival in Amsterdam, Maximilian Ibrahimovic has immediately joined Ajax’s second team, Jong Ajax. This has been a challenging season, with the Amsterdam club bottom of the table with 19 points from 25 games.

In Serie D, under Massimo Oddo, Ibrahimovic Jr. had played 988 minutes for Milan Futuro: he made 17 appearances, scoring five goals, and adding four assists. Now he has made the romantic leap to the Netherlands, hoping to steal the show just like Zlatan did, but so far there have been difficulties.

Five days after arriving in Amsterdam, Maxi immediately took to the field in the 2-2 draw between Jong Ajax and Roda, coming on as a 74th-minute substitute. He was not included in the squad for the next two league matches, although there are no official reports or rumors about possible injuries.

Milan are eager to see what Ibrahimovic’s future will be in the Netherlands, as a training program with the first team had initially been envisaged, but now he isn’t even getting a sniff for their youth side.
