The sale of Monza has officially been completed, leaving Adriano Galliani free to return to AC Milan, should that be the chosen next stop.
As Calciomercato.com report, the departure of Fininvest and the Berlusconi family from Monza is official, as the club were sold to the American fund Beckett Layne Ventures. Galliani’s tenure as CEO of his hometown team, a team he has never hidden his support for, has come to an end too.
Now, rumours of his possible return to Milan – in a role yet to be determined – are set to intensify, because he is a ‘free agent’ in theory. Speaking to Sportmediaset, Galliani shed light on his decision not to stay on as Monza’s president.
“A difficult decision, made so I could dedicate myself fully to the other activities I’m involved in, but also to give the new ownership and management complete freedom to express their vision and pursue their projects,” he said.
“Among these is bringing Monza back to Serie A : a historic milestone, achieved for the first time under Fininvest management, thus fulfilling President Silvio Berlusconi’s dream.”

The Condor’s future
From now, Galliani is ready to dedicate all his energies to his role as senator – after his first election in 2018 and a second in 2023 – without closing himself off to new opportunities in the world of football.
In this sense, despite the expected denials – including the most recent ones following his presence at San Siro to watch the match against Bologna – the idea of a return to Milan remains in the headlines and is reportedly supported by many.
Following an undisclosed meeting over the summer between Galliani and Gerry Cardinale in Saint-Tropez, the possibility of appointing him as a sporting-related executive has gained traction within the club.
Galliani is not expected to hold any positions that would challenge CEO Giorgio Furlani or president Paolo Scaroni’s positions. There have been rumours of a possible appointment as Head of Football, working closely with sporting director Igli Tare and coach Massimiliano Allegri.
