CM: Galliani’s Milan return far from certain – the offer he is considering

The noise about Adriano Galliani’s potential return has gone quiet, and at the moment it seems an offer from FIFA is tempting him.

Galliani spent 31 years at Milan in his first spell, one that brought eight Scudetti, a Coppa Italia, six Italian Super Cups, five European Cups/Champions Leagues, five European Super Cups and three Intercontinental Cups/Club World Cups.

As Calciomercato.com report, it was Zlatan Ibrahimovic who put forward the idea of bringing Galliani back to Milan, suggesting it to Gerry Cardinale. The meeting on Flavio Briatore’s yacht in Sardinia led to a handshake, but to this day they still represent the last real step forward.

Meanwhile, Galliani has left Monza. On September 25, the transfer of ownership of the Brianza club from Fininvest (the Berlusconi family’s holding company) to the American fund Beckett Layne Ventures was completed.

The fund’s representatives had offered Galliani the position of president, but he politely declined. Galliani had been envisioned as a super-consultant to the ownership at Milan, considering that the CEO and president positions are firmly occupied by Giorgio Furlani and Paolo Scaroni respectively.

While his position was being worked out, a new avenue has emerged that increased the difficulty of the operation. As Matteo Moretto reports, an offer from FIFA is an attractive one, to the extent he is seriously considering the possibility of saying yes to it.
