CM: ‘He never scores’ – Gimenez’s time runs out as Allegri seeks goals

This weekend, Santiago Gimenez will likely be among the substitutes for AC Milan, with his goalscoring drought unavoidable. 

There have been several questions about Gimenez since he arrived in January, and it is understandable. After all, the Mexican has not hit the ground running, nor has he really gotten up to speed.

All parties have repeatedly tried to encourage him to kick on, with messages of support in the media. However, with his Serie A drought continuing, there is nothing that can be done to avoid the fact that his goalscoring record is not up to standard.

So, Massimiliano Allegri will finally look to someone else as a starter this weekend, it seems. As Calciomercato.com write, ‘he never scores’ and this has effectively forced the Italian’s decision, despite his regular praise.

The reason is partially due to rotation, given he has played a lot of minutes in the past three games. Christopher Nkunku is the ‘normal rotation’ option, it seems, but Ruben Loftus-Cheek could also slot alongside Rafael Leao.

For Gimenez, the tide must start to turn quickly, especially with the mercato approaching. A judgment is set to arrive soon, and right now, it will not be a positive one.
