CM: Ibrahimovic is a ‘strong supporter’ of the Lewandowski idea – how it could aid Milan

Robert Lewandowski’s name is the most intriguing one for AC Milan at the moment, and the move is being endorsed internally.

There is a lot that can be said about a move for Lewandowski. Not only would it be adding a world-class striker to the team, which Milan are desperate for, but it would also be a case of the Rossoneri moving their mercato strategy.

Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot could be viewed as anomalies at this point next year. Two steps into the older market, just for younger names to be targeted after that point. If a move for Lewandowski were to happen, it would show that the club are serious about adding quality, regardless of age.

The signing of Lewandowski, if it were to happen, could end the streak of expensive strikers arriving and doing nothing. With his deal in Barcelona up at the end of this season, he should be a financially smart addition.

It is by no means a deal close to happening, but the Diavolo are infatuated with the idea.

Now, as Calciomercato.com write, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is strongly supporting the deal, and hopes it can happen. The Swede sees him as the player to take Milan to the next level, just like he did when he returned in 2020.

We will have to see, but it is one to watch.
