Despite heavily adding to the midfield this summer, AC Milan may already look to further improve the unit next summer.
There are several moves that have been successful in the midfield this summer, involving players who have been more and less involved. Perhaps, even with some new signings who were at the club last season.
The big stars, though, are Adrien Rabiot and Luka Modric, who have been standouts for Milan thus far, as you’d probably expect.
Another Allegri disciple?
Rabiot, one of the final deals of the mercato, was requested by Allegri heavily, given his love for the midfielder during his time in Turin, where both return this weekend. However, he may not be the only former Bianconero to reunite with his former coach.
According to Calciomercato.it, Rodrigo Bentancur could also make the move back to Italy with the Rossoneri, a move which would ‘certainly make Allegri happy’. The Uruguayan’s contract expires next summer, and until a new deal is signed, he will be open to returning to Italy.
Youssouf Fofana or Ruben Loftus-Cheek could depart, meaning another midfielder would be needed. So, that idea would be Bentancur, currently. The report states that he currently earns €2.6 million per season, figures that would be affordable for the Diavolo, indeed.
