CM: Leao ‘not indispensable anymore’ – what Allegri must see from Milan star

So far, AC Milan have been brilliant this season, and it has not been for through chance. However, there is a star to return.

With 12 points acquired from a possible 15, Milan look fantastic. Whilst some questions remain, they are largely problem-free and can look at themselves with a lot of positivity. Especially after beating Napoli last weekend.

No longer just Leao

They have done all this without the help of Rafael Leao, who came on as a late sub against the Partenopei, proving that the need for him may not be as great as it was previously, Calciomercato.com write. That is not to say that he is not important, though, of course not.

Instead, Allegri believes that he needs to fulfil his potential, and this is why the staff have worked with him to help him become a striker, to fit into Allegri’s system. Leao, when available, has impressed, given that he is willing to change his role.

For now, both Christopher Nkunku and Santiago Gimenez are ahead of him in the pecking order, largely due to their physical conditions and tactical understanding. So, the star will be forced to play from the bench again, barring any late changes.

The report finishes, stating that Leao knows he must work better, harder, and listen to Allegri more. Additionally, more sacrifice needs to be shown. Once that happens, the road to him starting again will be much shorter.
