Currently, Milanello is considered closed, given most of the AC Milan squad are enjoying some deserved time off, after their 3-0 win against Bologna. However, it is not the case for everyone.
Shortly after the win this week, it was reported that Milanello would be vacant for a few days, with Massimiliano Allegri granting the team a few days off after their impressive performance. Of course, the fact that there is no game until next weekend also plays a part.
Nevertheless, it is a chance for the squad to get a well-earned period of rest after a hectic January period. However, not everyone is using that luxury.
Quartet train alone
As Calciomercato.com reports, Rafael Leao, Christian Pulisic, Alexis Saelemaekers and Santiago Gimenez have all reported to Milanello for some recovery sessions, with each hoping to return soon. At present, all are in unideal conditions.
For the star pair, especially, this break in fixtures is a gift, as they have around 10 days to get themselves up to speed, and there is already a plan in place for Pulisic to return against Pisa, which can only be viewed as a good thing.
Both are needed at ‘match pace’ sooner rather than later, so they will do everything possible to recover quickly, ready to help the team once again.
Of course, it is not the first time that this group have trained at Milanello together during an off-day, which is a testament to their mentalities.
