Inter and AC Milan’s rivalry extends beyond the field, as the two clubs share the same target ahead of the summer.

As Calciomercato.com report, Elia Caprile has been among the best goalkeepers in Serie A in this first part of the season, despite the miscalculation that cost the equaliser against Genoa in their 3-3 draw in the last round.

The Cagliari goalkeeper – with his saving saves and high-level performances – is attracting the attention of some top clubs. They bought him permanently from Napoli for €8m, and he is demonstrating that he was well worth the money.

Rising price tag

The Sardinian side are now rubbing their hands together, knowing that a queue of clubs will soon be lining up to sign him. For example, Milan and Inter are two clubs that have included Caprile on their list of potential summer targets.

Indeed, they are the two clubs most interested in the former Napoli player, so much so that they have already taken the first exploratory steps. The Nerazzurri in particular have been closely monitoring his performance in recent months.

The Rossoneri are evaluating several goalkeeping options given the likely departure of Mike Maignan: the Frenchman’s contract expires in June and there are currently no signs of a possible renewal.

The Italian goalkeeping school remains top-notch with Donnarumma, Vicario, Carnesecchi and Meret being the reasons why Caprile hasn’t yet featured in the national team despite his exponential growth. This is also reflected in Cagliari’s valuation: no less than €25m.
