AC Milan have held further talks with Leon Goretzka regarding a potential move in the summer, according to a report.
According to Calciomercato.com, Igli Tare and Giorgio Furlani are still on the lookout for young and talented players who can be signed for a fee that is not too exorbitant and their valuation can grow over time.
However, the management are also looking at players over 30, especially those whose contracts are expiring. This is the context for Milan’s strong interest in Goretzka, who turns 31 on February 6th and whose contract with Bayern Munich expires on June 30th.
Salary negotiations ongoing
Goretzka remains an important part of Vincent Kompany’s plans at Bayern Munich as he has made 25 appearances in all competitions, which is every game. He also has not been troubled by any injuries yet, unlike recent years, and yet he is not a certain starter any more.
Milan have contacted his entourage, who are working on options for the summer, although a contract renewal with Bayern Munich cannot be ruled out at this time. Goretzka earns just under €13m gross per year in Munich, and anyone interested must guarantee him a three-year contract worth €7m net.

This is a significant figure for the Rossoneri, who didn’t offer more than €5.5-6m for Rafael Leao and who offered roughly the same amount to Mike Maignan for his renewal. Commissions must also be considered, and they would be pretty high.
In all of this, there’s a big question mark over Luka Modric’s future. The decision to renew is entirely up to the Croatian, who hasn’t yet made a call. This is why Goretzka’s candidacy could grow in momentum.
