AC Milan want to sign a new central defender this month, but doing so is proving to be harder than first imagined, unfortunately.
It is normally better to do business in the summer, but Milan failed to sign an experienced option in the mercato six months ago. So, they are now forced to make a move in January for a defender of the needed level.
However, a lot of the considered options are also required at their current clubs as the season heats up. Consequently, signing a defender is proving to be a bit more challenging than originally expected at Casa Milan.
No, no and more no’s
As Calciomercato.com writes, the list of rejections is already long and the mercato has only just opened.
Milan Skriniar and Joe Gomez have been two of the favoured targets this month, but Domenico Tedesco and Arne Slot will not allow either to leave their current clubs. Both are seen as key, so they must stay.
Then, there is also Federico Gatti and Kim Min-Jae, the duo are also unavailable this window, but movements could be made in the summer, where the South Korean is concerned.
Axel Disasi was considered, but Chelsea require an obligation to buy in the loan. Whilst Murillo and Diego Coppola are also being considered alongside Nathan Ake, there is no name in pole position.
