Artem Dovbyk’s injury has ‘complicated’ the transfer plans of AC Milan sporting director Igli Tare, a report claims.
Roma have had a brilliant start to the season and are joint-top of the table with Inter. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are at the summit without having been able to count on goals from Dovbyk (only two in the league) and Evan Ferguson.
As Calciomercato.com report, the situation is now even more challenging given that both players are out injured. In the win against Udinese, Dovbyk suffered a tear in his rectus femoris tendon that will keep him out of action for four to six weeks.
Swap deal off?
Last summer, Roma and Milan held lengthy negotiations – right up until two hours before the deadline – over a swap between the Ukrainian international and Santiago Gimenez, given both were not seen as part of the plans at their respective clubs.
Given their characteristics, the former would be ideal for Massimiliano Allegri, while the latter was certainly better suited to Gian Piero Gasperini’s style of play. Everything fell through when Roma requested a €30m option to buy for the former Feyenoord player.
Tare never gave up on Dovbyk, and this first half of the season had confirmed the expected difficulties of the duo, which is why the swap could have become a possibility again. This injury, though, risks derailing things for a second time.
