The aim of the Milan Futuro project is to provide young players a pathway to the first team, and some potential candidates are emerging.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side are third in the table having amassed 13 points out of a possible 15 to begin the new campaign. Massimo Oddo’s Futuro team are also third in Serie D, but with 11 points to their name.
As Calciomercato.com recall, there was a revolution in the B-team ranks after the relegation from Serie C. Between the posts, Noah Raveyre went to Pau FC, while Lapo Nava went to gain his first real experience in Serie A as Cremonese’s third-choice goalkeeper.
In defence, Coubis went on loan with an obligation to Sampdoria, Bozzolan joined Reggiana, Magni is on loan with an option to buy at Cesena, while Jimenez was sold to Bournemouth and Bartesaghi became a regular in the first team.
In midfield, Sandri is at Crotone, Liberali moved to Catanzaro, Comotto is on loan at Spezia and Zeroli also joined Monza under the same loan agreement in January. Up front, Camarda is cutting his teeth in Lecce.
The talents to watch
The results that matter most for Milan in the Futuro project concern the mission to nurture young players to be ready to move up to the first team. So, who in Oddo’s squad might these future talents be?
Looking at the 4-3-3 formation with which the Futuro are playing all their matches, there are a few players who could be among Allegri’s possible call-ups. Central defender Gabriele Minotti and right-back Mattia Cappelletti stand out as candidates.
Emanuele Sala seems to have all the qualities needed to be a gem of the future, given his modern way of playing the central midfield position and his excellent vision. In attack, Diego Sia and Maximilian Ibrahimovic have already scored and are the key players for Oddo’s team, with both wingers.

Speaking of talented players with interesting surnames, keep an eye on Viana Seedorf: an 18-year-old midfielder like his more famous father, Clarence.
Those aforementioned names are hoping to follow the path traced by goalkeepers Lorenzo Torriani and Matteo Pittarella, plus of course Bartesaghi and perhaps the biggest surprise story so far, Cheveyo Balentien.
Due to a lack of options up front, Allegri not only called up the Balentien but also gave him his competitive debut. The Dutch winger has pace and a big frame, characteristics that reflect Allegri’s style of football.
