A move for Adrien Rabiot was completed quickly, and AC Milan got the better of his dream situation after Massimiliano Allegri’s involvement.
There were persistent suggestions that Milan wanted Rabiot throughout the summer, and despite Allegri stating that there was no contact between him and the midfielder, this was debunked in the player’s interview.
In fact, the Italian had rung his former midfielder on different occasions during the mercato, asking about his situation. However, he never showed interest, stating he was a Marseille player and wanted to be respectful about his situation.
Rabiot and Allegri
However, a row happened with his teammate, Jonathan Rowe, and the midfielder was listed for sale. Here, the Rossoneri sensed blood and moved quickly for the Frenchman, who will now play for the Diavolo for the next three years.
It could have been very different, though. According to Calciomercato.com, the midfielder holds a ‘dream’ to play in the English Premier League one day, and after the incident in France, there was a chance to do so.
However, he rejected the advances from England, instead preferring to reunite with his former head coach. Considering how much Allegri wanted him, the fact that he rejected his dream for the Diavolo is a massive tick.
