Yet another source has claimed that the chances of Luka Modric extending his contract with AC Milan seem to be increasing.
Modric was the star of the show on Friday night in Pisa, as his 85th-minute secured three precious points and just about kept the title race. With his composed finish over the goalkeeper, he became the oldest goalscorer in Serie A history from open play.
Milan’s desire
As Calciomercato.com report, Milan want to keep hold of Modric beyond the current season, and for this reason they are hoping that he is open to extending his contract for another campaign.
The option for a renewal already exists, and it also includes a higher salary (around €4.5m net per season) should the club participate in the Champions League. For the Croatian star, it’s obviously not just a financial issue, because other factors will be taken into consideration.

The former Real Madrid player wants to consistently play at a very high level, make a positive impact on his team, and not settle for a back-up role. So far, Massimiliano Allegri is giving him exactly that, and the pair have a great relationship.
Modric feels like part of a big family at Milan and has an excellent bond with the entire team. The feeling is so positive that the club believe he will put pen to paper on a new agreement with the club he has supported since he was a boy.
The final decision on his future will rest solely with Modric, who will make his choice before leaving for the World Cup with the Croatian national team. Igli Tare is aware of this situation: it was already agreed upon last summer, and he respects it, but optimism is growing and that cannot be hidden.
