AC Milan are not only thinking about strengthening the attack, with Mario Gila of Lazio also a target in view of January.
As Calciomercato.com confirm, Milan are working to sign a new striker in the winter mercato and it appears increasingly likely that it will be Niclas Fullkrug from West Ham that arrives. Alongside the reinforcement up front, sporting director Igli Tare is also working on new signings for the defence.
The latest idea for the defence is Mario Gila, the Spanish centre-back whom Tare knows well, having had him at Lazio. In fact, he was the one who brought him to the Italian capital, picking him up from Real Madrid for around €6m.
Talks planned
In the coming days, direct discussions are expected between the Milan sporting director and the player’s agent Alejandro Camaño, who also has Lautaro Martinez and Achraf Hakimi among his clients. Gila’s contract expires in June 2027, with no signs of a renewal.
The meeting will determine whether there’s scope for a move as early as January or whether discussions can be further explored in June, and what the potential costs of the deal might be. Gila is one of the names on Milan’s shortlist but not the only one.
The idea of signing a defender in January is being considered therefore, though internally it is not seen as an emergency. Tare isn’t rushing to secure a defensive addition and wants to carefully consider the pros and cons of each player on the list before taking any concrete steps.
