CM: Tomori closing on Scudetto-self – Allegri approves renewal decision

After another fine showing, Massimiliano Allegri has given the nod for another extension at AC Milan, and it could be discussed further soon.

This weekend, Milan conceded only their fourth goal of the season, something that is now seen as disappointing internally. Of course, we can discuss the goal itself and where the Rossoneri potentially went wrong.

However, that would be focusing on the wrong thing.

Instead, the focus must be on the fact that the Diavolo now have some defensive stability, and three players that were often overlooked last season have come together to create a solid unit.

Allegri says yes

In that back three, Fikayo Tomori provides the most experience, and this was something that Allegri wanted in his backline: experience. Of course, he is not Giorgio Chiellini. However, the Englishman has played at the top end of European football since 2019/20.

He has played more than 150 games in Serie A and the Champions League. In other words, there is no need to worry about experience, or a lack of it.

Instead, the worries were based on his performances and whether he could recover to the level that he was at during the Scudetto season. So far, it would be difficult to suggest otherwise.

As Calciomercato.com states, there is still a bit to go, but he is nearing the level that he was at when the Rossoneri won their 19th title. This season, he has won 60% of his duels and not committed a serious error.

Tomori refused to leave the Diavolo in previous mercatos, and now, he is paying back that decision. In fact, Allegri has now given his renewal the green light. Discussions are not yet formal, but developments are expected in the near future. Everyone wants to move forward together, and Tomori, in many ways, is moving back to the past.
