Colombo reveals impressions regarding Galliani’s Milan return after direct conversation

Monica Colombo of Corriere della Sera has shed some light regarding Adriano Galliani’s possible return to AC Milan, and the rumours of a sale.

Galliani was spotted in the stands at San Siro on Sunday night alongside the CEO Giorgio Furlani, which fuelled speculation that he will take up some role at Milan. The reliable Matteo Moretto even confirmed that – to his knowledge – Il Condor’s return is just a matter of time.

However, a twist came this afternoon as Galliani was questioned in Rome about all of the rumours that are doing the rounds. He denied being at the stadium because of an imminent second spell with the Rossoneri, insisting he was merely there to cheer as a fan.

Galliani, sale and more

Colombo is a journalist that has been covering Milan for a long time and as a result has forged some strong connections, including with Galliani it seems. She spoke to Radio Rossonera about his possible comeback, revealing that she spoke with him today.

Could Galliani come back to Milan?

“I don’t think anything is a given. There are still two steps to overcome: the first is the closing of Monza, but the €27m needed to complete the sale to the fund represented by Baldissoni hasn’t arrived yet.

“The other obstacle, in my opinion, unless this happens quickly, is that Cardinale will work to bring him into the club in a role that isn’t entirely clear at the moment, and a balance will need to be found among the management team.

“He’s someone with a personality, experience, and charisma that would have weight in a positive sense, so we’ll need to find the right way to fit him in, and that will be the big theme of the Milanese autumn.”

What about Galliani’s words today?

“Let’s just say I spoke to the person directly involved, and he meant to say he wanted to see Milan the way he’s been coming to see it for the last eight years as a fan. It wasn’t an absolute no, but a no, and he didn’t want to give any meaning to his presence at San Siro the other night.

“Translated, it doesn’t mean: ‘I’ll become a Milan director if I were at the stadium’. I think he wouldn’t mind returning; it’s still up in the air. It would, however, mean downsizing the current management team; discussions are still ongoing.”

Is a change of ownership possible?

“Honestly, I’m speaking from what I know. I’ve read about it, just like you, and I have no confirmation or certainty. If Pellegatti said so, he’s certainly well-sourced and isn’t shooting from the hip, but I have no confirmation of that. Bringing in shareholders is also a very long process.”
