Como president confirms Serie A are waiting for two bits of approval for Australia game

Como president Mirwan Suwarso has claimed that Lega Serie A are still missing two levels of approval for their Australia game plan.

Milan and Lega Serie A are pushing for a league game to be played out in Perth. Everything stems from the fact that San Siro is unusable from 6 February to 22 February 2026, because of the Winter Olympic Games that are being held in Milano-Cortina.

That happens to be a period when the Rossoneri had a home game scheduled and so they needed to look for an alternative venue. The choice for the stadium to be halfway across the world is something that has generated a strong reaction.

During his interview with Sky Sport Insider, the Como president – Mirwan Suwarso – discussed the possibility of playing the game against Milan out in Australia. He began by addressing why there has been recent silence on things, with MilanNews relaying his words.

“I think the situation is still the same: Serie A are waiting for approval from FIFA and the Asian Football Federation. We support the League: we think it’s good for the league.”

“It was the League’s decision. By the time it was made public, it was already out. We were chosen to play and we gave our consent. But there’s no right way to make these decisions. Some will always agree and some won’t. We have to look at the collective good, not just of the club, but of the league.”
