AC Milan want to renew Mike Maignan’s contract, and whilst things are looking more positive, it is not a done deal. In fact, there is still a lot to finalise. 

Getting a new deal sorted for Maignan is paramount for Milan. As the club captain and one of the best goalkeepers in the world, his renewal would be a statement to Europe and to players as well. One which says we want to build a team of the best, not allow them to leave for free.

To help with his renewal, Massimiliano Allegri and Igli Tare are constantly pressuring the Frenchman to sign a new deal and praising him publicly whenever they get the chance to do so. Perhaps an answer could arrive soon with meetings scheduled.

Staying in Italy?

Whilst reports suggest that there are positive feelings regarding his future from those internally, it has not put off any interested parties. In fact, two Italian clubs are sitting waiting to pounce if an opportunity arises.

As Corriere della Sera, via MilanNews, writes, Inter and Juventus are watching the situation with eagerness, hoping that they get a chance to potentially sign the goalkeeper. Whether the Frenchman would be open to a move within Italy is something in itself, but they are waiting. Hoping to profit if the Diavolo fail.
