CorSera: Man Utd open to beneficial loan terms in January as Milan eye Zirkzee

Joshua Zirkzee is back on AC Milan’s radar as they could add a striker to the team in January, but it looks like they will face competition from Roma.

Zirkzee has been linked with Milan for quite some time, first coming close to joining the Rossoneri before he joined Manchester United in the summer of 2024. Now, per the latest reports from Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), the Dutchman is back on their radar.

Milan and Massimiliano Allegri have been struggling to get the best out of Santiago Gimenez, and Christopher Nkunku for that matter, which has put a lot of pressure on Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic. The fact that a striker signing is being evaluated, as such, is no surprise at all.

No obligation needed

As per the newspaper, Milan are evaluating the various options on the market and one of them is Zirkzee, who has also ended up in the sights of Roma. The former Bologna man was convinced that he would be able to take the big leap at Man Utd, but so far, it hasn’t happened for him.

So far this season, Zirkzee has played just 90 minutes, so a move in January definitely appears to be on the cards. Especially since his goal is to be called up for the World Cup next summer, which means he simply has to play a lot in the second half of the season.

Mila’s sporting director, Igli Tare, has initiated contacts with the player’s entourage to understand the feasibility. The initial indications suggest that the Old Trafford side could let Zirkzee leave on loan, even without an obligation to buy.

For Milan and Roma, this would be a great formula, even if Zirkzee isn’t the exact striker that Allegri and Gian Piero Gasperini are looking for.
