CorSera: Milan ‘reduced’ in Autumn – why a January intervention is vital

6 hours ago 26

This season, AC Milan are in an undeniably better place. However, there are still some issues with the team as it is.

A lot has been said about the mercato already, but Milan need to be active when they are given the chance in a few months. Put simply, the Rossoneri lack depth, and this cannot be allowed to have an effect.

Massimiliano Allegri approved a smaller squad to go into this season, but a few injuries ravaged them, leaving quite a thin team left. So, there has to be an intervention, to prevent the season being derailed through injuries.

Already thin

Luckily, we are only around 60 days away from the mercato opening, so there will be a chance to ‘fix’ the squad soon, which is what Corriere della Sera called for this morning.

As MilanNews relays, their report states that the squad was ‘already reduced to the bare minimum in the autumn’. Milan lack several key players, and whilst players like Davide Bartesaghi and Samuele Ricci have stepped up, it shows where the team is at.

Neither are bad options to have, of course not. However, when you look further up the pitch, Ruben Loftus-Cheek should not be a replacement for a striker, as this is where the issue lies.

Investment in January is already likely, but with the Scudetto now looking possible, Allegri will demand the relevant improvements to try and fulfill his team’s aims.
