CorSera: ‘The dreamcatcher’ – Modric continues to keep Milan’s Scudetto dream alive

Luka Modric scored the winner for AC Milan against Pisa, showing once again just how important he is, and there has been no shortage of praise for him this morning.

At the age of 40, it’s simply incredible what Modric has brought to the team this season. In addition to his passing, which everyone knew he would provide, he has boosted the team with an impressive work-rate, positional awareness and even defensive contributions.

There have been some ups and downs, even in-game like we saw last night, but he always finds a way to make a difference in some capacity. Most importantly, he acts as a leader for his teammates; a source of inspiration that is invaluable.

All thanks to Modric

As explained by Corriere della Sera this morning (via MilanNews), Milan have Modric to thank for even being in the Scudetto race…

“Modric, the dreamcatcher. If the Rossoneri are still alive, if they are still in the running for the Scudetto, if with 14 games to go they can still compete for a second star, it’s thanks to their immense champion,” the newspaper put it.

It’s hard to argue against that statement. Milan are now just five points behind their city rivals Inter, who will be up against Juventus tonight, and the derby is scheduled for March 8. A lot will be decided in the next few weeks, as such.
