AC Milan have ticked off the signing of a striker, and now the management will turn towards signing a new centre-back.
After sealing Niclas Füllkrug’s arrival, Corriere dello Sport (via MilanPress) report that Igli Tare is pushing to give Massimiliano Allegri a new defensive addition, and he has some ideas in mind.
The wish list
The first names on the table are Federico Gatti and Joe Gomez. The Juventus centre-back is considered a reliable and ready player, while the Liverpool man is an old flame from the summer.
Gomez was in fact one step away from joining Milan in the most recent mercato, before the Reds decided not to let him go due to the fact they were unable to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.
Under Luciano Spalletti, Gatti is finding very little playing time, while at San Siro Allegri would be there to welcome him with open arms, the very man who made him a starter at Juventus in 2022.
One of the alternatives – in addition to Gomez – is Eric Dier, who moved to Monaco in the summer but is not getting much playing time either. In short, it looks like Tare is looking for an opportunity rather than a statement coup.
