Massimiliano Allegri’s second spell at AC Milan is only a few months old, but it feels like he has already generated a lot of headlines and iconic moments.
As Corriere dello Sport recall, the snapshot of Allegri in the eye of RefCam immediately went viral online and has already become one of the most popular social media memes. The scene, however, earned the Milan coach a red card, his second in 13 league games.
The coach will therefore have to sit out Monday’s Serie A match against Torino and will watch from the stands. However, he will be in the dug-out for the first time this season in the Coppa Italia, tomorrow at the Stadio Olimpico against Lazio.
Allegri has been suspended on three occasions this year, and the Rossoneri have won every match, beating Bari 2-0, Udinese 0-3 and Lecce 3-0. Eight goals scored and none conceded: a resounding success, and a show in the press box, especially in Udine, with Max acting like a caged lion.

Trusted assistant Marco Landucci has done his duty when it came to replacing the head coach. However, data shows that the truly irreplaceable one at Milan is Allegri. With him at the helm, the Rossoneri are a completely different team.
The reference isn’t just to the squad composition, the formations or the quality of the individuals, but to the mentality the coach has brought to Milanello. At the same stage last season Milan had nine points less in the league, which shows a major transformation in results, which is what counts.
Allegri is succeeding in getting the most out of a small squad, and the entire dressing room is behind him. There isn’t a single player – even those who play less – who isn’t following every word that he says.
Publicly, he only talks about finishing in the top four, but the desire for revenge and the strong spirit of the squad allow the players to dream big.
