CorSport: ‘Jackpot Tare’ – Milan to surge past €200m in sales thanks to new director

It’s been three months of hard work for Igli Tare, and the work isn’t over yet, but there are certainly some very positive signs.

As Corriere dello Sport (seen below) report this morning, since signing for Milan on May 26th, the former Lazio director hasn’t stopped for a second, revamping the squad, even resolving some thorny issues.

The new transfer man has brought about a complete overhaul, from the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri to the seven signings officially announced so far, while awaiting the final round of transfer window action.

But it’s especially in the outgoing market that the Albanian manager’s influence has been evident, as he has managed to land players for unthinkable sums.

‘Jackpot Tare’

It is suffice it to say that Milan sold Malick Thiaw to Newcastle for around €40m, including bonuses, well above his true market value (considering the two-year contract remaining), and got a huge capital gain.

In addition to the high-profile sale of Tijjani Reijnders, Tare managed to find a solution for the likes of Camarda, Bondo, Terracciano, Liberali, Pobega, Colombo and many players who needed to play elsewhere.

The permanent sale of Emerson Royal to Flamengo for €10m was a great deal, and it seems that he will get over €20m – including bonuses – from Leeds United for Noah Okafor, another big capital gain.

The already secured sum – including paid loans – is €165.5m, which, with bonuses and buy-outs, could reach €200m (€220m with Okafor). Fresh money, which has put the accounts in order.

The new sporting director also had to deal with the complicated cases of Theo Hernandez and Mike Maignan. The former was sold to Simone Inzaghi’s Al-Hilal for €25m, thus resolving an internal issue that could no longer be postponed. In short, he has been stellar with outgoings.
