Rafael Leao has had to watch on during the first two games of the Serie A season as AC Milan lost and won, but he is working to return.
As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes this morning, Leao has been sorely missed early in the season by Milan. The Portuguese winger scored against Bari in the Coppa Italia, but that was just before sustaining a calf problem that kept him out against both Cremonese and Lecce.
Fortunately, the test revealed no serious injury like a tear, so it’s expected that Leao will be fully available to head coach Massimiliano Allegri again over the break. In fact, the belief is he will be ready for the game against Bologna after the interval.
Milan’s training resumed yesterday afternoon, and the No.10 was at Milanello to continue his recovery with some individual work. That is the first step before rejoining the rest of the group, which will hopefully happen in the coming days.
Two of the club’s news signings – Christopher Nkunku and David Odogu – also enjoyed their first taste of the training complex. Overall, around half of the players remain under Allegri’s command as 12 of them have been called up by their respective national teams.
