AC Milan are growing in confidence that they can convince Mike Maignan to renew his contract and stay beyond June.
The January transfer window has begun, and now the talk is almost exclusively of signings and sales. However, there’s another hot topic at Milan: Maignan’s contract renewal. His current deal expires on June 30th, but he’ll be free to reach an agreement with another club when the winter window closes.
New offer, new optimism
As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) are reporting this morning, these are crucial days on the Maignan front. The French goalkeeper – after months in which he seemed to have rejected every attempt to open talks – is now more open to staying.
A meeting with his agent is needed to discuss all the financial details. The offer from the management is as follows: €5m net plus €2m in bonuses until 2030. The Rossoneri directors are confident they can get a signature soon, but it will require a strong effort from everyone.

After months of stalemate, with contact between the parties completely halted, the situation now appears to be more positive. Discussions have resumed, and the hope is that an agreement will be reached soon.
A clear solution is far from certain, as the matter remains delicate, but there is certainly more trust than a few weeks ago, when the parties weren’t even talking. Milan’s financial offer to Maignan is very significant and would make him the highest-paid player in the squad, tied with Rafael Leão.
