The AC Milan squad will be back in full training at Milanello today, and Massimiliano Allegri will start to make choices ahead of the bologna game.

As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) write this morning, the team returns to training under the guidance of Allegri ahead of the third round of the young season, which will be played on Sunday evening at San Siro against Bologna.

This will be a crucial match against a potential direct rival for the European spots, at least based on their impressive recent seasons. The biggest concerns for the Rossoneri is the attack, with four options for two spots but also many unknowns.

From questions marks to certainties

The pace of the Rossoneri’s attack this year will be represented in particular by Rafael Leao and Christopher Nkunku, a new face who arrived that the club believed in enough to invest over €35m.

Ahead of Bologna, everything at Milan revolves around the Portuguese: will he be able to recover for the match? Will he at least be called up to come on during the match? The paper questions whether it’s worth risking him or not. The next few days of training will be crucial.

For the Frenchman, however, the main aim is to get back into shape. After a period of inactivity due to his exclusion at Chelsea, it’s unlikely he’ll be able to start. Both trained yesterday at Milanello, on the team’s last day of rest.

The attacking options could be narrowed down to two names: Christian Pulisic and Santiago Gimenez. They’ve started both league games, and the American has been his usual guarantee, while the Mexican needs to bounce back after a turbulent summer, especially in the final days of the mercato.

However, they will be the last to get back to Italy. The duo will play two friendlies for the United States and Mexico tonight, forcing them to return to training only on Thursday. Luckily, the match is on Sunday, but it will still take a few hours to re-energise.
