CorSport: Milan aiming to tie English duo down to new deals – the strategy

4 days ago 35

Even though the winter transfer window is now behind us, the AC Milan management are still in negotiations over some deals.

It was a rather quiet January for Milan in the end as they signed Niclas Füllkrug from West Ham on loan with option to buy and that was it, with a late deal for Jean-Philippe Mateta collapsing due to a failed medical. Now, though, attention turns to current players.

Renewals on the agenda

According to Corriere dello Sport (via MN24), the top priority is the renewal of Fikayo Tomori. The Englishman is a key figure in Massimiliano Allegri’s defence, but has a contract expiring in 2027, therefore at the end of next season.

The club have already offered an extension until 30 June 2030. The offer includes maintaining Tomori’s current salary of €3.5m net per year, a sign of mutual trust that should lead to a signature very quickly.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s future also seems firmly in the red and black. Despite Lazio’s advances in January, the 30-year-old midfielder is considered a key part of Allegri’s plans because of his versatility. A new deal aims to quell any potential transfer market speculation.

Davide Bartesaghi is already tied to a contract until 2030, but to ward off Arsenal’s serious interest , the club are ready to reward him with an additional year on his contract and a tripled salary. This strategy shows how much they value the young talent.
