CorSport: Milan enquired about Parma midfielder but Fiorentina push ahead

A report has claimed that AC Milan expressed an interest in signing Simon Sohm from Parma, but now Fiorentina are the frontrunners.

As soon as Tijjani Reijnders was sold to Manchester City for a potential club-record fee, it was obvious that Milan needed multiple signings to rebuild the midfield. As a result, literally dozens of names were linked with the Rossoneri, though only Samuele Ricci and Luka Modric have joined so far.

Sohm an early target

Today’s Corriere dello Sport (via ParmaLive) reveals an interesting background story involving Parma midfielder Simon Sohm. Fiorentina have had their eye on him since early June, even before considering Adrian Bernabè.

However, that wasn’t the only interest to come forward for the Swiss player because Massimiliano Allegri’s Milan also inquired about him. The Rossoneri’s interest is spoken about in past tense, implying they are no longer keen on him.

Parma, confident in their position where there’s no need to sell, have been able to raise their asking price to the €20m they’re still asking Fiorentina to let the midfielder leave. And La Viola are ready to raise their offer to €15-16m, perhaps even in the next few hours, to try to close things.
