CorSport: Milan left relying on Allegri – the next system he could use

6 hours ago 20

It is a bit of a mystery how AC Milan are going to manage this season, which feels strange to say, all things considered.

This summer was meant to be one of change, to deliver a clear identity for Milan. Instead, it has muddied the waters, and Massimiliano Allegri is left trying to work out how to build his ship to manage them.

His requests seemingly went unheard in some areas, meaning the Rossoneri need to make do with some things. However, they can, of course, make it work somehow.

Reluctantly reliant

For Christopher Nkunku alone, there are four possibilities about what position he may actually play, and Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) looks deeper at the current idea emerging from Milanello. Rather than the 3-5-2 and 4-3-3 used during the pre-season, Allegri looks to switch to a 3-4-2-1.

Christian Pulisic or Christopher Nkunku could sit next to Ruben Loftus-Cheek behind either Rafael Leao or Santiago Gimenez. Behind them, Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot could make things tick over.

In any case, the ‘moral of the story’ is that Allegri is left with wonders to do. It will be a big task, but he must get the best from this squad. No one can really afford the summer of resetting to be pointless.
