CorSport: Milan’s shortlist for No.9 position includes Hojlund and Nunez – the situation

2 weeks ago 42

AC Milan are looking to bolster their squad with a striker this summer and based on two requirements, they have put together a shortlist of targets.

The Rossoneri said goodbye to both Tammy Abraham and Luka Jovic at the end of June, opting not to renew their respective deals. Santiago Gimenez is still at the club and is expected to play a key role, but he needs someone to alternate with.

Several names have been linked with the club in recent weeks, but based on the latest reports, Milan are yet to make a decision on which player(s) to actually target. Most likely, it will depend on the economic demands of each next month.

Milan’s current shortlist

According to today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan), Milan have two requirements for the position: it has to be a player who has experience at high levels, while the deal must be financially sustainable too.

The first name on the list is obviously Dusan Vlahovic, who was named the top target in today’s edition of Tuttosport too. However, his salary remains the biggest hurdle to overcome and it’s not certain that an agreement can be reached on that front.

Another notable name on the list is Darwin Nunez, who is expected to leave Liverpool this summer. While the price tag is too high at €40-50m, Milan could perhaps get a loan with an option to buy in place if he’s still up for sale at the end of August.

Rasmus Hojlund, another Premier League player, is also on the list but once again, it would have to be a loan with an option to buy for Milan to afford the signing. Finally, the ‘outsider’ on the list is Genk’s Tolu Arokodare, but his inexperience means he’s indeed at the bottom.
