AC Milan invested over €35m to sign Christopher Nkunku, and yet his first start for the club is not yet on the horizon.
As Corriere dello Sport (via RadioRossonera) report this morning, Nkunku is ready to make a comeback after his mixed spell at Chelsea. Just as Christian Pulisic was when he made the same move, the Frenchman is hoping for some stability and chances to show what he can do.
An extra card
The paper recall Massimiliano Allegri’s recent comments on Nkunku: “Football is now played with five substitutions. Substitutions at the end are crucial because matches change in the last half hour. Those who play the least are sometimes the most important players because they bring home points.”
Entering the pitch in the 85th minute of the win over Bologna, Nkunku took sixty seconds to earn the penalty then unfairly overturned by the VAR. What was encouraging though was how he drew it: the forward took down a ball over the top with a great touch, got in position and was fouled.

His fitness is gradually improving, too. This week’s training sessions at Milanello have yielded positive results with his physical and athletic condition on the up. Nkunku would be able to play at least one half in Udine if called upon, hoping to be decisive.
According to CorSport, Santiago Gimenez is expected to win the battle to start – also for fitness reasons – but the Frenchman can play in any position in the attack and in any system, which is an advantage.
