Marc Pubill appeared destined to become AC Milan’s new right-back, as an agreement had more or less been reached with Almeria, but now the deal could fall through.
Since the departures of Davide Calabria and Kyle Walker, Milan have been looking for a new right-back and several names have been mentioned. From Tiago Santos to Guela Doue, the Rossoneri took time to evaluate their options, but then made a move for Marc Pubill.
The Almeria right-back, who came close to joining Atalanta last summer, is deemed to be a great talent but there have been concerns regarding his physical status. Concerns that everyone thought had vanished after the Rossoneri sent their medical team to test the player.
Milan yet to give go-ahead
However, as reported by Corriere dello Sport, Milan have taken a step back in the negotiations after hesitating at the last minute. An agreement has practically been reached at around €10m plus bonuses, but the Rossoneri are taking their time with the final go-ahead.
As such, per the report, the negotiation risks falling through as Milan could opt to focus on another target instead. The next few days should provide us with more concrete updates but as things stand, the uncertainty remains for the right-back position.
