AC Milan’s first game of the season is just two days away, and Massimiliano Allegri is preparing his troops in training.
According to Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), the starting line-up to face Bari in the round of 32 in the Coppa Italia is still being deliberated over. The main news is that Allegri is considering a three-man defence, a move that would allow Koni De Winter and Zachary Athekame to ease in more gradually.
In that case, Strahinja Pavlovic, Matteo Gabbia and Fikayo Tomori would start. Christian Pulisic remains a question mark in attack: will he partner Rafael Leao or will Santiago Gimenez be the starter?
Luka Modric is expected to sit on the bench from minute one, as he’s not yet fully fit to play 90 minutes, but will certainly be an excellent option to bring on should the game require it.

New signings, no Allegri
The match, scheduled for Sunday at 21:15 CEST at San Siro, will also be the occasion to officially present the new signings to the fans. Around 20 minutes before kick-off, between the end of the warm-up and the start of the game, the players will take to the pitch to receive a welcome from fans.
Allegri will not be on the bench against Bari due to the suspension he received in the 2024 Coppa Italia final. His official debut in his second spell as Milan manager will take place a week later, again at San Siro, in the first league match against Cremonese.
