Going into the summer Alexis Saelemaekers had an uncertain fate, but he could ended up committing his long-term future to AC Milan again.

Saelemaekers shone last season on loan at Roma and they wanted to sign him permanently, but talks ended rather suddently earlier in the summer. The Belgian is now expected to stay with Milan for the upcoming campaign, with Massimiliano Allegri believed to be an admirer of his versatility.

Outcast to renewal?

This new-found importance could radically change Saelemaekers’ future, according to Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews). Allegri likes him and will stay with the Rossoneri, they confirm, and the feedback from the preseason tour was very positive.

The management are starting to consider a contract extension as per the paper, because of the fact that the 26-year-old has a deal which expires in 2027, meaning there is less than two years left on his deal.

Milan believe the loan experiences in Bologna and Roma helped to develop the former Anderlecht man into a very useful player, given his work ethic, the fact he is well-liked in the dressing room, and has added end product. Now, the possibility of extending his deal is gaining in momentum as an idea.
